Professional Biography
Sharon Willdin is an innovative award-winning writer, director and producer.
Her narrative prose has been published internationally in the Weekend Australian, Hemingway Shorts, Brooklyn Review, Antithesis Journal, Spineless Wonders, Chicago Literati, Caustic Frolic, Dead Mule, Open Thought Vortex, Chaleur Magazine, Esthetic Apostle, One Last Story, Pure Slush and Dark Ink.
Sharon was a finalist for the Hemingway Shorts Award, Henry Lawson Literary Society Award, Joanne Burns Microlit Award, Woollahra Digital Literary Award and she won the Olga Masters’ Short Story Award and the Banjo Paterson Short Story Award.
She is a frequent contributor to ArtsHub Australia, where she reviews major Australian theatre, opera, and dance productions. Sharon served as the co-convener of the Allsorts Writing Group in partnership with Writing NSW and she has appeared as featured writer at literary events including the Emerging Writer's Festival. Her journalistic contributions can be found at TAFE Media.
Her screenplays have been nominated for the ScreenCraft Film Fund. Core of My Heart, a film Sharon wrote, produced and directed was a finalist in the Shortstacks Short Film Festival.
Clowns Anonymous, a film she wrote and produced, premiered at the Noosa International Film Festival and has since been chosen for screening in international festivals including the Wollongong Film Festival, Short to the Point International Film Festival, Portland Comedy Film Festival, Show Us Your Shorts - Warburton, Mini Cardiff Film Festival and the Melbourne Underground Film Festival. The film received a special mention in the London World-Wide Short Comedy Film Festival and was awarded in the Canada Shorts Film Festival. It won best film at the Goulburn Show Reel Film Festival.
Underground at the Knox Street Bar, a podcast series she produced, features four cross-genre musical artists and is available on Spotify.
